DEBANKUR SANYAL, PH.D.

I am a soil biogeochemist-cum-agronomist broadly trained in agricultural sustainability, soil fertility and plant nutrition. As a researcher, I seek answers to the fundamental questions about nutrient (carbon, nitrogen etc.) dynamics in the agroecosystems at multiple scales, using approaches that range from laboratory-based experiments to extensive field trials. My specific research interests include but not limited to nutrient, water and soil health management of agroecosystems, using precision agricultural tools and conservation techniques such as cover cropping, suitable crop rotations, and reduced or no tillage practices to provide better economic stability and stronger environmental resilience to agricultural systems globally under changing climate scenarios.
