Healthy Desert Soils Initiative — Redefining Soil Health for Arid and Semi-Arid Agriculture

Around the world, desert soil proves to be the most challenging for commercial agriculture from sustainability and socioeconomic perspectives. My program, Healthy Desert Soils Initiative (HDSI), integrates essential, research-backed, Extension and educational resources for commercial producers to effectively manage soil health in arid and semi-arid agroecosystem.

What we do?

Our mission is to develop strategies to maintain and improve soil health in commercial agroecosystems of arid and semi-arid environments. Through cutting-edge research and communication with stakeholders, we are investigating research based, practical solutions for desert producers.  We develop guidelines and recommendations for sustainable soil health management in desert environments.
